The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) has dissociated itself from calls by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) branch of the association, for the privatization of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
A statement issued by the Deputy General Secretary of NUATE, Comrade Odinaka Igbokwe said the call was made without authorization by of the national body, hence it does not water.
He noted that the NCAA branch actions do not reflect our union’s constitutional stance adding that it will reject actions that drag into positions that undermine national security.
“We believe government must further strengthen NAMA financially and structurally, NAMA remains the ultimate bulwark of our strength in Nigerian air safety”
NUATE said Air navigation is a critical, sensitive matter that must never be compromised adding that the control of and the safety of airspace must remain a public priority, not a commercial enterprise.
