Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), has been honoured with the prestigious “The Most Fire-Free Public Facility” award by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service at the recently concluded Lagos International Fire Safety Conference 3.0, in recognition of the terminal’s unwavering commitment to fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and safety excellence
.The award recognizes public facilities that have demonstrated exceptional performance in fire safety management, risk prevention, and the implementation of robust emergency response systems.Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), one of Nigeria’s most modern and efficiently managed airport terminals, has built a reputation for maintaining a strong safety culture, structured operational processes, and strict compliance with aviation safety standards.
Operated by BASL, the terminal continues to prioritize the protection of passengers, employees, concessionaires, airlines, and all terminal users through proactive safety management.
The terminal is equipped with advanced fire detection and suppression systems, well-trained emergency response teams, and comprehensive safety preparedness protocols designed to prevent fire incidents while ensuring rapid and effective response whenever required.
Through continuous investment in infrastructure, routine maintenance of fire safety systems, regular safety audits, emergency simulation exercises, and continuous staff capacity development, MMA2 has established itself as one of the safest public facilities in Nigeria and a benchmark for fire safety and emergency mitigation within the country’s aviation sector.
Commenting on the recognition, the Acting Chief Operating Officer/Head, Space and Premises Management, Mr. Kola Bamigboye, described the award as a reflection of BASL’s deliberate and sustained investment in safety infrastructure and operational excellence.

Also speaking on the achievement, the Head of Aviation Safety, Mrs. Nafisat Adeniran, noted that the award validates the effectiveness of BASL’s proactive safety management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
