As part of plans to expand its African footprint and enhance its signal stability for viewers on the region, Moreplex TV recently announced the migration of its television service to Belintersat 1 at 51.5°E .
Based on this new move, the company instructed its subscribers to update their receivers to frequencies including 11010 H, 11130 H and 11170 H with a symbol rate of 30,000.
According to the company, the migration provides an opportunity to examine the technical and commercial decisions involved in running a satellite television platform from Nigeria.
It added that independent satellite-monitoring site LyngSat currently lists Moreplex TV on Belintersat 1 at 51.5°E, with three DVB-S2 transponders carrying the platform’s services.
Knowing full well that Satellite position can determine the reach, signal strength and economics of a pay-TV platform, it chose one of the best satellites, Belintersat 1 as it says satellite migration has been part of its development as it continues to expand horizon in African.
Belintersat 1, manufactured by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, was launched in 2016 to cover parts of Europe and Africa from the 51.5°E orbital slot.
Belintersat-1 remains the active operational spacecraft providing C-band and Ku-band transponder services.services. The satellite carries 20 C-band and 18 Ku-band transponders and is based on the DFH-4 bus manufactured of 100% certified flight-quality components.
It provides TV broadcasting, satellite internet, and corporate network connectivity across targeted regional beams.
It is considered of high innovative, economic, social and political importance, providing a full range of advanced satellite services in Europe, Africa and Asia,
It provides extensive pan-African coverage via dedicated high-power C-band and Ku-band African beams. It delivers direct-to-home (DTH) broadcasting, data trunking, and VSAT broadband services across Sub-Saharan and North Africa.
The C-Band African Beam offers wide geographical coverage across the African continent with circular polarization, ideal for robust regional TV and data distribution while Ku-Band African Beam focuses on high-powered spot beams providing targeted footprint delivery over populated regions in Sub-Saharan and tropical Africa.
Moreplex’s DTH platform is based in Lagos and has a footprint extending across sub-Saharan Africa.
The migration by Moreplex also provides easier dish tracking alignment for local satellite technicians, provides seamless delivery of live sports and entertainment packages.
Moreplex TV is a Direct To Home (DTH) TV platform which is the new dawn of Pay TV Services that is redefining the entertainment television for the one billion people in Africa.
“We are providing a multipurpose Free To Air (FTA), Free To View (FTV) and Pay TV services that comprise DTH, Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) and Video On Demand (VOD).”, the company said.
Moreplex TV is currently operating on one transponder, which is , frequency 11010 V 30000, even though it should be three transponders.
