EmoSIM, a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) on Wednesday,  unveiled a groundbreaking global digital connectivity platform, eSIM, designed to eliminate roaming challenges for Nigerian travellers, business and worldwide.

This is Nigeria ‘s first travel e-sim and is expected to connects over 190 countries.with 600+ connectivity options.

With the aim to seamless connectivity, the MVNO also announced a partnership with TATA Communications Services, to provide telecommunications and connectivity services to the Nigerian market.

Chairman and Founder of Emosim, Jimmy Eboma, while speaking at the historic event that was held in Lagos, declared that the launch is a transformative moment for Nigerian travelers, entrepreneurs, and dreamers, ‘promising seamless communication across 190 countries.’

“Today marks a pivotal moment, not just for Emosim, but for every Nigerian traveler, entrepreneur, and dreamer who has ever felt the weight of the world’s digital divides.

He painted a vivid picture of the frustrations faced by many Nigerians abroad—expensive roaming charges, long queues for SIM cards, and unreliable networks, underscoring how Emosim’s technology would eliminate these barriers.

According to him, with one simple tap, users gain instant access to global networks without swapping SIM cards or incurring unexpected fees.

Jimmy also acknowledged the collaborative efforts behind Emosim’s success, thanking Tata Communications for its technical partnership and its dedicated team for transforming a bold vision into reality.

Also speaking, Prof. Umar Danbatta, Former Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), lauded Emosim for its doggednes and commitment,badding that  mong the entities evaluated, EMOSIM stood out, met all the eligibility requirements and demonstrated the potential to deliver meaningful impact.

“That’s why I’m particularly pleased to see EMOSIM today, not only as a licensee but as a company that has translated that regulatory vision into tangible service delivery. You are truly helping to solve a real problem—providing affordable, reliable telecommunications services to people who have historically been left behind.

“Your work aligns perfectly with the broader strategic goals of the NCC and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. It also supports the goals of the Ministry of Trade, as digital connectivity increasingly plays a critical role in commerce and economic inclusion.”

He commended EMOSIM for embodying the three foundational pillars of Universal Access in telecommunications: Availability, Accessibility and Affordability

According to him, EMOSIM’s solution stands out for travellers and mobile users alike. It provides seamless, borderless connectivity without the hassle of changing SIM cards or purchasing additional infrastructure. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the ingenuity and forward-thinking that we need in Nigeria’s ICT ecosystem.

“I applaud EMOSIM for your innovation, your alignment with national digital goals, and for proving that regulatory foresight, when met with entrepreneurial vision, can lead to transformative results for society.”, he said.

Former chairman, National Institute of Marketing (NIMN), Tony Agenmonmen, expressed satisfaction and confidence with the innovation ‘that has brought a kind of confidence that good things can come from Nigeria.

“We don’t look at anybody as competition. It is an ecosystem, a great way that everybody should go out there and try to explore this market. Innovation is what the government wants to achieve, I am very proud of this step”, he said.

The initiative was brought in purposely to simplify international travel by eliminating communication and connectivity barriers and to bridge the global digital divide, empowering everyday Nigerians with tools that make the world feel smaller, safer, and more accessible.

Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh, Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), also emphasised the importance of data and innovation in national development.

“It’s time we grow our economic account books with ideas, intellect, and research,” Ewalefoh urged. “Let us create an environment where businesses thrive, barriers are broken, and Nigeria becomes self-sufficient.”, he said.

He commended the trust placed in Nigerian innovation by international partners like Tata Communications, describing the collaboration as evidence of Nigeria’s rising credibility in the global tech ecosystem.

The launch ceremony attracted industry leaders, government officials, investors, and tech enthusiasts eager to witness the debut of this innovative enterprise.

In attendance at the event were; the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who was represented, the Preceding EVC/CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission, Professor Umar Danbatta and other government officials.
