United Nigeria Airlines said it has acknowledged and accepted the public apologies issued by VeryDarkMan and Mr. Jollof following the onboard altercation that occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on 17 November 2025.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the airline, Chibuike Uloka said UNA acknowledges their commitments expressed via their respective social media platforms to refrain from any conduct that could compromise aviation safety, order, or decorum onboard United Nigeria Airlines flights or any other airline.
“We trust that this undertaking will be honoured in the interest of maintaining a safe, respectful, and orderly travel environment for all passengers.”, it said.
The airline also appreciated the swift and coordinated intervention of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Airport Security (AVSEC), other relevant aviation agencies, the Asaba International Airport Authority, its crew and operational teams, who managed the situation professionally and in full accordance with established safety protocols.
“As an airline, we remain aligned with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and all regulatory bodies in the collective effort to curb unruly passenger behaviour across the aviation sector. We urge the travelling public to continue to cooperate fully with airline personnel, security agencies, and airport authorities to safeguard the integrity and safety of air travel in Nigeria.
“United Nigeria Airlines remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and dignified service to all our passengers across our networks.
VDM had issued a public apology following his in-flight confrontation with comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, widely known as Mr Jollof, which caused delays on a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
Speaking in a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Otse said he took “full responsibility” for the disruption and acknowledged that the incident should not have happened.
“I would really like to apologise for what happened yesterday on the United Nigerian Airlines. What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen, and I will take full responsibility for it,” he said.
He noted that the altercation delayed passengers who had important engagements.
Mr Jollof also shared a video on his Instagram page, offering a public apology to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), United Nigeria Airlines, and fellow passengers.
