The National Air traffic Communicators Association of Nigeria (NACAN), has called for the upgrade and modernisation of air traffic communication equipment promote safety and economical operations of Air navigations services must be enhanced.

President of the association, Rabiu Mohammed Sani while commenting on the Association’s 2023 conference themed “mordenising Air traffic communications profession to promote safety and economical operation of Air Navigation services in Nigeria”, said Nigeria needs to lead by example in the mordenisation of its Air traffic communications operations through; provisions of modern communications equipments and giving up-to-date training to the Aeronautical station’s personnel.

The NACAN  president however revealed explained that the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency ( NAMA) has recently improved in  personnel training, adding that there is the need for equipment upgrade.

He applauded NAMA for employing over 100 personnel in the communications department between the year 2021 and 2023.

He called on the management to speed up the installation process of the AHMS machines which started many years ago adding that, only Lagos and Kano Aiports got those machines installed but the configuration is yet to be completed.

“I hope the projects will affect all the Major Nigerian Airports in the near future as designed earlier”, he said.

On the forthcoming NACAN conference, Sani said the conference slated for  November 28 to 30th, 2023 in Kano, will be witnessed by some states governors, Aviation minister, senators, heads of Aviation Agencies and parastatals, Aviation professionals within Nigeria and African region.
