The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has urged passengers to see cabin crew and airline ground staff as their friends and partners in the course of the journeys rather than their enemies.
Leading a team of NCAA Consumer Protection and public relations officers to educate passengers about their dangers of verbal and physical assault in the terminals and aboard aircraft, Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu said the move is to enable the Authority arrest the rising tide of violence in the industry.
This awareness, which he said will be a nationwide campaign, teaches that ‘Cabin crew are not the enemy.
“They don’t make the rules. They ensure your safety and assist your journey. Be you passenger, cabin crew, or ground staff, we are all partners in this ecosystem, and we must not hurt one another.”, he said.
Recall that the air rage incident involving Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air and another involving popular Fuji musician, Kwam1 and Value jet elicited uproar and controversy globally, underscoring the importance of consumer education and enlightenment on their rights and obligations.
