The growing number of incidents of disruptive behaviour, both in-flight and at the airport, has become a major industry concern. Among the most affected are cabin crew, who, in a confined aircraft space, have to deal with some very unruly passengers, some of whom, in reported cases, have become violent.

Though the appropriate authorities, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, are implementing intensive monitoring and enforcement measures to reduce these cases at both check-in and on board, the NKQA office is creatively using various public communication channels, engaging with the flying public to inform, educate, and raise awareness about this menace with the bid to collectively bring such behaviour to a stop.

At this year’s International Protocol Officer Conference 2026, the Nigeria King and Queen of the Air (NKQA), Mr Adeyemi James Abebote (Arik), the King of the Air, and Miss Blossom Dallenes Ubani of Ibom Air will extend the campaign, tagged NOT ON My FLIGHT, through a T-shirt message, public advocacy and social media messages to echo the collective feeling of all Nigerian cabin crew to say no to unruly and disruptive flying behaviour.

Over 200 delegates from various sectors and states of the federation attended this conference, which deals with protocol and travel facilitation.

Accordingly, for Mr Fortune Idu, Chairman of the NIGAV Centre and the conference convener, IPOC is an annual gathering of protocol officers in the country and travel facilitators in most Nigerian offices. The event helps them to learn, exchange information and carry out peer reviews of performance, and the event is a good ground to speak on issues related to maintaining order and good practices and an opportunity to shed more light on the NKQA campaign against unruly passenger behaviour, well ahead of the end of the festive season, when such cases are more prevalent.
