Eligible SkyMiles cardholders can earn two round-trip Comfort Flight Certificates and 50,000 bonus miles in latest Delta-American Express announcement

Delta Air Lines has unveiled a new travel reward that could appeal to frequent travellers, offering eligible new Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members the opportunity to earn two round-trip Delta Comfort Flight Certificates and 50,000 bonus miles.

The first-of-its-kind offer, which runs from August 27 to November 4, 2026, is part of a wider package of limited-time offer announced by Delta and American Express as the two companies mark three decades of partnership.
Under the new offer, eligible customers who sign up for the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Consumer Card and spend $10,000 within the first six months can earn two round-trip Delta Comfort Flight Certificates in addition to 50,000 bonus SkyMiles.

The flight certificates are valid for eligible travel on Delta-operated flights within the 48 contiguous United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Delta said there are no blackout dates, although bookings must be made at least 21 days in advance and taxes and fees of up to $80 per person apply.

The offer comes as airlines increasingly compete not only on fares and route networks but also on loyalty benefits, comfort and the overall value offered to frequent flyers.

What it means for Nigerian travellers
For Nigerian travellers who frequently fly to the United States, the latest offer underscores the growing value of airline loyalty programmes in helping passengers get more from their travel. Delta operates nonstop flights between Lagos and Atlanta, giving Nigerian travellers convenient access to the airline’s extensive U.S. network through its Atlanta hub.

However, there is an important distinction for Nigerian customers: the two Comfort Flight Certificates in this particular promotion are not for Lagos-U.S. travel.

They are valid for eligible Delta-operated round-trip travel within the U.S. 48, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

This means a Nigerian traveller could potentially use the certificates for domestic travel within the United States after arriving from Lagos, subject to the offer’s terms and eligibility requirements.

For example, a traveller arriving in Atlanta could potentially use a certificate for a subsequent domestic Delta journey within the eligible destinations, making the benefit particularly relevant to Nigerians who combine business, family visits or leisure trips across multiple U.S. cities.
