The former director general of Nimet. Dr. Anthony Anuforom has commended the management of the agency for bringing back its vibrancy since the coming on board of Prof. Matazu, its present director general
Speaking in Abuja on behalf of the past DGs of NiMet, Anuforom noted that Nimet is visible today not as nuisance but as a serious valued entity.
Anuforom noted that extreme weather phenomenon was dealing hardly on human kind everywhere as no part of the globe was spared, adding that Nigeria was not immuned to the extreme weather conditions.
The former Nimet boss explained that extreme weather conditions in the country is more dangerous than the ones in Europe and other countries, adding that it would have caused havoc before it was noticed in the country.
“The issue of weather and climate can not be business as usual, we must take it more seriously, take the forecast and the advisories produced by Nimet very serious and factor item into planning in every sector of the national economy.
Anuforom commended the minister of information, Lai Mohammed for giving directive on weather broadcast to national television and Radio stations.
He said it was part of what pushed Nimet to limelight, especially as data is now encrypted and which Prof. Matazu has continued to sustain.
