President, Women in Aviation – Glowing Wings Chapter, Mrs. Evelyn Njoku has renewed call for gender equality and women’s empowerment for a more inclusive and gender-responsive society.

She made the call in her speech in commemoration of International Women’s Day on Sunday.

Njoku, who is also the ‎General Manager, Public Affairs, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA),  also urged women to support their peers in their different fields, underscoring the pivotal role of women in driving societal progress

‎”International Women’s Day is not just a celebration—it is a reminder that equality, respect, and opportunity must continue to be defended and expanded. When women rise, industries grow stronger, communities become better, and nations move forward.

” ‎To every woman breaking barriers, balancing responsibilities, and lifting others along the way, I celebrate your courage and determination. ‎Let us continue to support one another, open doors for the next generation, and build a future where every woman can soar without limits.”, she said.

While celebrating the resilience and achievements of women who did allow challenges hinder their full full participation in the aviation sector, she said: ‘‎Today, as the world marks International Women’s Day, I stand proud not only as a professional in the aviation industry but as a woman who believes strongly in the limitless strength, intelligence, and resilience of women.

‎”Women have continued to rise, lead, and transform industries that once seemed unreachable. In aviation especially, we are proving every day that competence, vision, and leadership know no gender. From the control towers to boardrooms, from engineering to public affairs, women are shaping the future of our skies.”

‎Njoku pledged her commitment to advancing opportunities for women, mentoring the next generation, and ensuring that young girls see aviation not as a distant dream but as a field where they can thrive and lead.

IWD is celebrated on March 8, commemorating women’s fight for equality and liberation along with the women’s rights movement. It gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
