The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has alerted the public, particularly, the Northern cities to a possible rise in temperature between May 30 and 31, 2022
In its prediction on High temps outlook, released on Sunday, it stated that some areas’ temperature would be greater than 35°C, some would be less than 40°C and others could be greater than 40°C.
It stated further that most parts of the Northern cities are expected to record temperatures between 35°C to 40°C.
“However, parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Borno are expected to experience temperatures greater than 40°C.
“Parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Dutse, Nguru, and Maiduguri indicate chances of experiencing high thermal discomfort.”, it said.
It added that parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Borno are expected to experience temperatures greater than 40°C while parts of Niger, Plateau, FCT, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, and Adamawa are expected to record temperatures between 35°C to 40°C.
