The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has assures the general public and airline operators that the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has not in any way affected the operations of the agency as contingency arrangements have been put in place for the processing of flight operations in the five major airports in Nigeria which include Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Enugu.
NAMA said it will continue to provide its services to airline operators in spite of the ongoing strike action, in keeping with the agency’s mandate to provide uninterrupted, safe, efficient, and economic air navigation services in the country.
The organised labour on Monday, shut down all entry points of aviation agencies at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, (domestic) Ikeja, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwel Airport (domestic ) in Abuja to press home their demands for the implementation of a new National Minimum Wage.
This action, however, affected flight operations at the nation’s busiest airport as airlines as passengers were left stranded at the airport entrances.
This is coming more than 24 hours after the Aviation unions directed its members to withdraw services across airports in Nigeria.
By the NAMA management insists on Tuesday that contingency arrangements have been put in place for the processing of flight operations in the five major airports in Nigeria which include Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Enugu.
