The manager of United Nigeria Airlines has explained incident leading to the dismemberment of passengers from its aircraft at the Asada International Airport on Monday.

According to a statement signed by Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, head, Corporate Communications  for the airline, ‘an aircraft operating out of Asaba International Airport, today, June 28, 2021, developed an APU fault on ground leading to the disembarkment of passengers on the 2:15pm flight.

The aircraft type, according to him, is Embraer 145 operating as Flight U50509.

He explained that Asaba Airport does not have ground power unit which is usually deployed in the event of the APU failure.

He said: “This is standard operating procedure and the passengers were briefed.

He noted however that the the battery has been fixed by the airline’s engineers and the aircraft has continued its flight to Lagos.

” United Nigeria takes the safety of its passengers as top priority and assures its numerous customers that safety shall never be compromised”, he added.
