Barr. Allen Onyema, Chairman, Air Peace

The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, honoured Mr. Allen Onyema, the chairman Air Peace, over his gesture at using his airline to evacuate distressed Nigerians from South Africa where they were subjected to Xenophobic attacks.

 

Led by its Speaker, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, the lawmakers recommended him for National honours.

 

“We hereby commend Mr Allen Onyema and recommend him to the Federal Government for higher honours in Nigeria,” he said.

The lawmakers accorded Onyema a standing ovation when called upon to address them.

 

Responding, Onyema said he has never been this honoured as the lawmakers did today.

 

“You have brought tears to my eyes again as I  have never been honoured in this way iin my life”.

 

Meanwhile, over 300 Nigerians may be on their way home aboard Air Peace of flight as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had confirmed this.

 

The flight is expected to touch down at the Murtala Muhammed International airport at 6.pm today.
