 The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) investigates aircraft accidents and incidents in Nigeria.

 

As part of the Civil Aviation Act of 2006, the AIB became an autonomous Agency.

 

The Fundamental Objective of AIB is to improve aviation safety by determining the circumstances and causes of air accidents and serious incidents and making safety recommendations intended to prevent recurrence of similar accidents in future in Nigeria.

As an Agency in charge of Accident investigation and possible prevention in the aviation industry, AIB has commended efforts of those concerned in coming up with the Tourism Transport Summit and Expo as a way of synergizing the activities of the two sectors for the benefits of the Nigerian economy.

It is in recognition of the relevance and importance of the role of AIB in the safety operation of air transportation in the economy of the country in general, and in particular, the aviation transportation industry that AIB has identified with and keyed into the forth coming Tourism Transport Summit and Expo to be hosted in the nation’s capital city of Abuja from 21st – 22nd May 2018, at the International Conference Centre, (ICC).

The Theme for the Summit is‘Tourism and Transportation: The Key Sectors for Sustainable Resilient Growth and Development’with the following Sub Themes: Tourism and Transportation Interdependencies for Mutual Growth and Sustainable Development;Potentialities of Developing Regional Inter-Connectivity in Transportation and Inter-Modal Connectivity, Traveler Safety and Security.

Others are, Licensing Regulations and Oversight–Meeting the International Standards for Sustainable Development of the Transportation and Tourism Industries; Marketing Destination Nigeria – What Role for the Transportation and Tourism Sectors; Public Private Partnership and Investment in the Tourism and Transportation Sectors- Prospects and Challenges; Development of Critical Infrastructure and the Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria- The Case of Tourism and Transportation Industries; and Building Capacity for Global Best Practices in the Tourism and Transportation Sectors.

The organizers who lauded the efforts of the Honourable Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika in his efforts at repositioning the sector and strengthening air connectivity in Africa, said the event will bring together critical stakeholders in the Nigerian transport sector such as the Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC), Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Nigerian Railway Cooperation (NRC), Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITI), Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Clearing and Forwarding Agency (NCFA) among others.

The Tourism Transport Summit and Expo 2018 will consist of numerous sessions which includes Tourism Transport Summit, Tourism Transport Training, Exhibition – B2B and G2B, Tourism Transport Ambassadors’ Award and Gala Night.
