Recent statistics about prevalence of HIV/AIDS has shown that the Transportation sector is one of the vulnerable sectors.

Therefore, in the fight against the virus, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has classified the aviation sector as one of the social intervention sector.

This is due to its mandate in policy formulation, oversight of large number of both public and private workforce and other allied businesses. The World Bank and NACA ranked the sector as the 3rd among 13 workplace critical sector in the fight of HIV/AIDS.

It is on this backdrop that the Ministry of Transportation inaugurated the relevant agencies in Aviation subsector to the Ministerial HIV/AIDS Local Committee. This is to enable a comprehensive social intervention approach to the fight for better productivity and collaboration with stakeholders to mitigate the effect of the virus in the sector.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Parastatal Action Committee (PAT) was inaugurated by Mr. SUD Maigana HIV/AIDS Project Coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Transport.
