For the second year running, the first privately-funded airport in the country, the Murtala Muhammed Airport Two (MMA2), operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), a member of the Resort Group, has clinched the Most Functional Terminal of the Year 2017 Award organised by the Nigerian Aviation (NIGAV) Awards, the industry’s watchdog. MMA2 won the same award in 2016.
The award is coming less than a month after the Chairman of the Resort Group, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN) won Independent Newspapers’ the Most Outstanding Airport Terminal Operator of the Year Award at a colourful ceremony in Lagos.
Besides, the Chief Executive Officer of BASL, Captain Jari Williams, also won the Best Administrator of the Year 2017 Award, organised by National Crimewatch magazine.
While presenting the award to BASL represented by the Head, Corporate Communications, Chief Steve Omolale, at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, the Chief Promoter of NIGAV, Mr. Fortune Idu, described MMA2 as “the number one success story of transport infrastructure in Nigeria”.
Other awardees on the occasion are Aero Contractors, which clinched the Maintenance, Repair Organisation (MRO) Special Achievement Award; Med-View Airlines as the most Outstanding Indigenous Regional Carrier; Arik Air, the Best Air Crew of the Year Domestic Route and Dana Air’s CEO, Mr. Jacky Hathiramani as the Best CEO of the Year.
Also while presenting the Administrator of the Year Award to Williams in Lagos, the Editor-in-Chief/Chief Executive Officer of National Crimewatch magazine, Mr. Tony Okpe, said he distinguished himself by running MM2 terminal that gives passengers who travel through it the best experience, adding that the award was a way of encouraging him to sustain the tempo.
Williams expressed gratitude to the magazine and promised that he would continue to improve on the operations of MMA2.
While dedicating the award to his management and staff, Williams said MMA2 had survived thus far despite all the challenges it is facing because of the dedication of his team, assuring Nigerians and other patrons of the terminal of the best services at all times.
