The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has commenced a series of engagements with key aviation agencies in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen stakeholder collaboration, improve communication between its national leadership and branches, and build a more responsive framework for addressing issues affecting aviation professionals across the country.
The initiative began with a courtesy visit by the National Administrative Council (NAC) of NAAPE, led by the National President, Captain Bunmi Gindeh, to the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Captain Alex Badeh Jr., at the Bureau’s headquarters in Abuja.
The visit , according to a statement signed by Engr. Blessing N. Ahmadu, Public Relations Officer of the union, forms part of a broader programme of engagements involving NAAPE branches within major aviation agencies in the Federal Capital Territory, including the NSIB, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Dornier Aviation Nigeria.
In a communication to members, NAAPE said the engagement is designed to encourage branches to submit regular weekly or monthly reports on activities and issues within their respective workplaces. The reporting structure is intended to give the National Administrative Council better visibility into developments affecting members and enable effective responses to emerging issues.
Speaking during the visit, the NAAPE President, Captain Bunmi Gindeh, said the initiative reflects the association’s commitment to maintaining closer engagement with its members and strengthening collaboration across Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.
“A strong professional association depends on consistent communication with its members. Our branches remain the foundation of NAAPE, and we want to ensure that their voices are heard regularly. This engagement is designed to strengthen collaboration, improve the flow of information and enable the National Administrative Council to respond more effectively to issues affecting our members and the profession.”
Captain Gindeh said NAAPE would continue to engage stakeholders across the aviation industry in pursuit of safer operations, stronger professional standards and a more cohesive aviation community.
Receiving the delegation, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., welcomed the association’s initiative, describing sustained dialogue among aviation stakeholders as an important element in strengthening the sector.
“The aviation industry functions best when its professional bodies, regulators and technical agencies maintain open channels of communication. Engagements such as this create opportunities to exchange perspectives, build mutual understanding and support the collective objective of advancing safety and professionalism within the industry.”
Captain Badeh Jr. noted that the NSIB values constructive relationships with professional associations and remains committed to carrying out its statutory responsibility to conduct independent safety investigations and issue recommendations aimed at preventing future occurrences.
This round of engagement marks the beginning of a wider programme by NAAPE to strengthen branch participation, promote regular communication and deepen collaboration with stakeholders across Nigeria’s aviation industry.
