The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) said on Tuesday, that following the intervention of the management, normalcy has been restored at all Nigeria’s airports, as the Flow Control, earlier embarked upon by members of the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) has been suspended.
The few hours of ‘Flow Control’ had caused some airlines to cancel, delay and rescheduled some early morning flights as passengers affected were stranded.
The ATCs embarked on the action over poor working conditions and incessant death of staff over inadequate staffing at the department.
The action is coming after another ATC, Mr. Aniekan Effiong Inuk, died in the early hours of Monday November 22, 2021 , on duty.
Meanwhile, the NAMA said the suspension of the warning strike ‘is to pave way for a follow-up meeting between NAMA management, Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the association, scheduled to hold later today (Tuesday)’.
‘’The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) hereby wishes to reassure airspace users and the general public that the Nigerian airspace remains safe for seamless and economic air travel. We also regret any inconveniences caused earlier today.’’, the statement signed by the Managing director of NAMA, Captain Fola Akinkuotu said.
