The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted heavy to moderate and low rainfall in many parts of the country between Friday and Sunday.
In a three-day forecast issued by the agency on Thursday, parts of Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Niger, Plateau, Nasarawa, Cross River, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Imo, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Ondo State including the Federal Capital Territory will experience moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday.
According to the forecast, parts of Taraba, Cross River, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta, Benue, Kogi, Edo, Bayelsa, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, Niger, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kebbi State and the Federal Capital Territory would experience moderate to heavy rainfall on Saturday
The forecast also revealed that there are slim chances of moderate rainfall to affect parts of Adamawa, Taraba and
Cross River States on Sunday.
Meanwhile low to moderate rainfall are expected over parts of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Ebonyi, Cross River, Benue, Kwara, Niger, Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Katsina and Kano States on Sunday.
The NiMet however warned of isolated cases of displacements of people due to flash floods, outbreaks of water-
borne diseases and isolated cases of damage to weak structure.
It urged Disaster Risk Management authorities to keep informed about the development of the meteorological situation and raise awareness, take action, adding that the situation needs to be monitored closely with National Hydrological and Meteorological Services.
