The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has denied report in the social media claiming the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Mr.Festus Keyamo, SAN, has ordered the removal of airfield lights at Mallam Aminu Kano International to replace the missing airfield lights at Runway 18R at Murtala Muhammad International Airport Lagos.
The regulatory body NCAA urged the public to disregard the report, as it is not aware of any directive to remove any of the several airfield light systems at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The NCAA, in a statement signed by the director general, Capt. Musa Nuhu, noted that the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano is among the five International airports in the country close to receiving certification as required by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The Authority assured the traveling public that it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring continuous safety of flight operations in all sectors of civil aviation in Nigeria.
