Sade Williams writes that an experience of Emirates ICE, in-flight services will turn passengers to ‘Oliver Twist’ even as you stay glued to your personalized screen watching exciting movies

The ICE comprises Information, Communication and Entertainment and offers an unrivalled experience in the air.

A Business class experience

The inflight entertainment onboard the B777-200 on the Dubai-Lagos route is superb.

The wonderful experience starts from the entrance to the aircraft as you meet beautiful air hostesses who greet you with smile and with courtesy and give direction to your seat in the cabin row.

And soon after the aircraft attains height and stabilises, they walk up to you to make a request from the mouthwatering menu of gourmet dishes inspired by the region.

From juices to cocktails, Mocktails, hot drinks, Wine and beer, you are sure to enjoy the flight in a refreshing way as you explore the world with every bite and savour the local flavours of your destination, with new menus.

With appetisers, you will enjoy roasted tomato soup; traditional Arabic mezze or Moroccan-style chicken served with spicy carrot. Any choice is served with a seasonal side salad and freshly baked bread.

The main course is superb, starting from Stir-fried beef in Oyster sauce to Prawn Machbous and Chicken Piccata served with steamed asparagus and gnocchi with cherry tomato sauce, you’ve tasted the real lunch.

As for the dessert, white chocolate sponge with cherries; chocolate and fig mouse cake and an assortment of fresh cut fruit is served. This is different from the light bites that would later be served as either salad nicoise; lamb pie or barley risotto.

Please, pair your meal with a fine wine or sip a glass of champagne.

The Laurent-Perrier Brut onboard Emirates is today, one of the best known and most loved of all Champagnes.

The Pierro L.T.C Semillon as a white wine, is the first Australian Semillon with in an intense nose of passion fruit and mango, layered with hints of fresh cut grass and green pea.

The Chateau pontesac 2006, Medoc as a Red wine shows red berry fruit aromas with gamey notes and hints of dried herbs. The palate is medium boiled, displaying keen energy and pure with a hint of liquorice on the finish. It matches well with steak, lamb chops or mature cheese.

And from the up to 3,000 channels of movies, TV shows, music and games, on demand and in multiple languages, you can make a choice.

On ice Digital Widescreen, the airline has movies with Audio Description and Closed Captions if you’re hearing or visually impaired.

From the information pages, you can find out what’s happening in your world at the moment with news and sport updates. You can see exactly where you are on the journey with a moving map, or switch between the external cameras to admire the view outside the plane.

It is also wonderful to know that one can follow his flight over oceans and mountains on the on-screen map, and see exactly where he is in the world.

With this, a passenger can also get weather report, the estimated time the flight will arrive and other flight data to his screen and above all, one can listen to his music, radio or podcasts uninterrupted while he explores.

The c in ice is communication. Emirates has made it easier for passengers to stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues when they fly as they can connect to onboard Wi-Fi, make a call on mobile or use the in-seat phone.

With the new technology, travellers can use the in-seat satellite phone to stay in touch with home or their offices or use it to call other people right on the flight. They can also send messages using onscreen SMS and email services.

In summary, making calls on your mobile just as you would when you’re on the ground is so easy with Emirates ICE.

You can use your mobile on over 300 flights a day, including all of Emirates A380 flights. You can also connect to the internet using the Wi-Fi services on all A380s and most Boeing 777s.
